Michael Costa

Michael Costa, a Manager with StoneTurn, has more than six years of combined experience in financial services and data analytics. He has worked with clients in the communications, healthcare, hospitality and light industrial manufacturing industries.

Prior to joining StoneTurn, Michael led the data analytics team at Collegis Education, a consulting firm in the higher education space. He specialized in student lifecycle analytics, marketing analytics and data systems integration, specifically for Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”), Learning Information Systems (“LIS”) and Student Information Systems (“SIS”).

Earlier in his career, Michael spent four years in the Valuation Advisory Services practice at Duff & Phelps, where he specialized in tangible asset valuation.

A:

At StoneTurn, we firmly believe that an integral part of any successful team is in recognizing strengths and limitations. By tackling problems with the aim of capitalizing on everyone’s strengths, StoneTurn is quick to identify the most appropriate subject matter experts within the firm and to engage with clients in a collegial fashion.

Q: Every day, StoneTurn professionals help clients untangle complex problems. Can you give us an example of a great client challenge you faced and how you successfully solved it?


A:

Clients often come to StoneTurn with questions or allegations involving trading data. It can be difficult to identify and combine the various data elements that make up a single trade, let alone trading patterns or trading behaviors. The Data Analytics team at StoneTurn regularly untangles these complex problems to form simple narratives or create instructive data visualizations.

Q: Clients also give StoneTurn high marks for being extremely responsive. Can you tell us about a time when you saw this in action?


A:

In my experience, every Partner in the firm responds to e-mails on the same day, if not within a few hours. If Partners are able to respond to my e-mails so quickly, I can only imagine that they are equally, if not more so, responsive to clients. The same can be said about individuals at every other level in the firm. This is not a rule the firm has, but rather a sign that we are engaged in our work and we know how to find answers to tough questions in an efficient manner.
