Helene Gurian

Helene Gurian, Senior Adviser with StoneTurn, has more than four decades of experience in guiding corporations, their counsel, and the public sector on global regulatory and compliance issues and investigations. Most recently, Helene was the Global Chief Compliance Officer for Moody’s.

Helene helps clients design and manage global compliance and investigation functions. Over the course of her career, Helene has been responsible for the build of global teams to support regulatory compliance for financial services companies, including centralized surveillance and monitoring, compliance policies and training, securities trade monitoring, global investigations and the supervision of regulatory examinations and inquiries worldwide.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Helene held executive positions in the Compliance Department of Prudential Financial, including Chief Compliance Officer for Prudential’s insurance broker-dealer, and, subsequently for their corporate centers. In that role, she supervised the corporate investigations and anti-money laundering (AML) divisions and the company’s regulatory examination program.

Helene started her career in government, where she served as a senior trial counsel in the New York County District Attorney’s Office and subsequently as a Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Department of Investigation and Deputy Commissioner and Chief Counsel for the New York State Commission of Investigation.
