Dr. Bernd Träxler, a Senior Adviser to StoneTurn, has more than 20 years of experience in compliance and regulation matters focused on the financial services industry. Specifically, he has in-depth experience as a banking regulator and Chief Compliance Officer.

Bernd is the founder and Managing Director of Compliance Networks, a consulting network which supports companies and other organisations by providing leading expertise enabling them to drive a culture of compliance and ethics.

Previously, Bernd was with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a multilateral development bank, where he served as the Chief Compliance Officer with a direct reporting line to the President. He also served as the Chief Ethics Officer ensuring adherence to the code of conduct. In his role he focused on due diligence regarding the integrity profile of project parties, the assessment of financial crime, sanctions risks, and conflict of interests as well as tax compliance. Bernd was also responsible for internal (staff) and project-related investigations.

Prior to this, he was with Erste Bank Group, the market leader for financial services in the CEE region where he served as the Chief Compliance Officer responsible for a large team of more than 250 Compliance Officers. Bernd led the Compliance function at the group level with a focus on AML/CFT, Financial Sanction, Conflicts of Interest, ABC, Securities and Markets Compliance (including the regulation for stock-listed enterprises), Fraud Prevention, and Data Protection.
