Mike Roos, a Partner with StoneTurn, has more than 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, compliance and monitoring, and investigations.
Throughout his career, Mike has focused on probity services on large procurement projects, expert witness work as part of litigation support, working with large sets of structured and unstructured data, business partner due diligence work, continuous control monitoring, and advisory work on technology implementations.
Mike is an experienced forensic accountant, and has performed more than 100 forensic investigations. He is an expert in the investigation of fraud and misconduct, conflicts of interest reviews, quantification of losses for insurance purposes, giving testimony in disciplinary matters, as well as the preparation of forensic reports for criminal, civil and insurance purposes. He regularly works with law enforcement agencies to perform complex investigations.
Mike has worked with clients across various industries, including financial services, transportation, construction and the public sector.
Prior to joining StoneTurn, Mike was a Forensic Director with KPMG Forensics, where he led the assessment of fraud risk in audits conducted by KPMG. During these audit consultations, he covered topics such as fraud risk, regulatory compliance, operational risk, anti-bribery and corruption, cyber risk and related parties and ethics. He specifically focused on financial services clients.
While at KPMG, Mike also set up and developed the probity line of service. He led procurement probity services related to two large Government IT contracts, as well as a transport system implementation and construction project.
Previously, he was an assistant Vice President in the Internal Audit division of BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for auditing mutual funds and hedge funds in Europe, South America and Australia.
Earlier in his career, he worked for a software implementation and consulting company, Barnstone, where he implemented continuous transaction monitoring software solutions at multinational corporations.
Mike is a Chartered Accountant and member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, and is an Associate Member of the ACFE International. He has completed a course in “The Internet of Things” from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
