INTERNATIONAL FORENSIC HARVEST
Counsel retained StoneTurn on behalf of a client involved in a major corporate acquisition. Our Forensic Technology experts traveled to Mexico to collect company data on site, forensically preserving data from more than 100 laptop and desktop computer systems and servers. The resulting data sets were secured, indexed and then provided to counsel using secure backup protocols in our labs.

SECURITY BREACH AND EMPLOYEE MISCONDUCT
Counsel engaged StoneTurn to investigate a damaging “Jane Doe” email sent from an internet account containing sensitive company information. After identifying the chief suspect through internet traffic patterns, StoneTurn analyzed the employee’s computer and network activity and created a login/logout timeline which confirmed that this individual was, in fact, the originator of the email. Proof of both the security breach and abuse of access rights were subsequently presented to counsel.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THEFT
Counsel to a Fortune 50 company engaged StoneTurn to investigate several individuals who had recently left the company and were suspected to have stolen proprietary data. We provided counsel with detailed reports revealing that removable devices, such as USB storage devices and other peripherals, had been used to obtain copies of proprietary data. Our analysis revealed that the suspects had sent email messages with file attachments containing company documents and had printed numerous company documents before their departure.

HIPAA DATA SECURITY BREACH: SOFTWARE
A company whose laptops with HIPAA-protected data were stolen retained StoneTurn to assist the company in complying with a request from their own client, a large health insurer, to identify every instance of HIPAA-related data related to the insurer that was present on the company’s computer systems. The entire population of data was then deleted and overwritten to U.S. Department of Defense standards.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THEFT
A major oil company retained StoneTurn when it suspected that one or more former employees had provided digitally stored intellectual property to a competing start-up company. StoneTurn determined that one former employee had created a CD containing 2,000 proprietary documents just prior to resignation. StoneTurn was able to recreate this CD in full and presented it in court; counsel obtained an injunction against the competing company, as well as an order for the competing company to preserve and produce all of their electronic data.

FEDERAL GRAND JURY INVESTIGATION
Counsel to a large international corporation retained StoneTurn to assist with a federal grand jury investigation. PATENT INFRINGEMENT
Counsel engaged StoneTurn to assist with a national brokerage firm’s response to a patent infringement allegation. Our Forensic Technology team preserved data on servers, workstations, laptops and other miscellaneous media and performed extensive keyword searches against all collected data.
