Mike Roos

Mike Roos, a Partner with StoneTurn, has more than 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, compliance and monitoring, and investigations.

Throughout his career, Mike has focused on expert witness work including the quantification of damages, commercial disputes and business partner due diligence. He has also reviewed and advised on compliance programs. Mike has global experience and has worked extensively throughout the U.S., U.K., and Africa. He is an expert in the investigation of fraud and misconduct, and has given testimony in disciplinary and civil matters and has prepared various forensic reports for criminal purposes.

Mike is a Chartered Accountant and has been a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants since 2000. He has been involved in numerous fraud investigations on behalf of private and public sector clients and has assisted law enforcement agencies and regulators to perform complex investigations. He has worked with clients across various industries, including financial services, transportation, construction and the public sector.

Prior to joining StoneTurn, Mike was a Forensic Director with KPMG Forensics, where he led the assessment of fraud risk in audits conducted by KPMG. During these audit consultations, he covered topics such as fraud risk, regulatory compliance, operational risk, anti-bribery and corruption, cyber risk and related parties and ethics. He specifically focused on financial services clients.

While at KPMG, Mike also set up and developed the probity line of service. He led procurement probity services related to two large Government IT contracts, as well as a transport system implementation and construction project.

Previously, he was an assistant Vice President in the Internal Audit division of BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for auditing mutual funds and hedge funds in Europe, South America and Australia.

Earlier in his career, he worked for a software implementation and consulting company, Barnstone, where he implemented continuous transaction monitoring software solutions at multinational corporations.
