David Kim, StoneTurn Managing Director

David Kim, a Managing Director with StoneTurn, has nearly 20 years of experience providing dispute resolution services for cases involving patent infringement, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty, among others.

David has assisted counsel in various stages of litigation including developing case strategy, preparing interrogatories and document requests, analyzing financial issues, drafting expert reports, participating in the deposition of witnesses, and creating demonstrative exhibits for trial. He has conducted complex financial analyses involving lost sales, lost profits, incremental profits, manufacturing and marketing capacity, fixed and variable costs, product line profitability, price erosion, reasonable royalties, unjust enrichment, commercial success, and prejudgment and post-verdict interest for both plaintiffs and defendants.

His case experience encompasses a broad array of industries including automotive, aviation, biotechnology, commercial retail, consumer products, energy, financial securities, healthcare, information technology, internet, medical products, military, network security, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, sporting goods, supercomputers, and telecommunications, among others.

David has lectured on the topic of patent infringement damages at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, presented to the Chicago Bar Association’s Federal Practice Committee, served as a panelist at the General Counsel Forum on Litigation Finance, and participated in the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s training for attorneys as an expert in a mock trial setting.

Prior to joining StoneTurn, David served as a Senior Manager in Forensics for BDO USA. In this role, David performed economic damages analyses for intellectual property disputes, post-acquisition disputes, insurance risk and recovery matters, and assisted the U.S. Department of Commerce in the monitorship of a multi-national wireless telecommunications company.
