Amy R. Foote, a Partner with StoneTurn, brings over 20 years of legal, regulatory, compliance and investigative experience as a prosecutor, internal corporate counsel and litigator. She has advised public and private sector clients on compliance issues, commercial disputes, governance issues, and complex litigation and investigations.
Amy has supervised compliance engagements and monitorships, conducted numerous internal investigations, and managed a wide variety of employment disputes and criminal and regulatory matters. She has also successfully defended clients in criminal and civil matters, including those before the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York State Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement departments.
At StoneTurn, Amy leads the team serving as independent monitoring auditor of a New York City-based waste carting business. Amy also manages elections and conducts investigations and compliance reviews for one of the largest construction unions in the United States under a monitorship imposed by a federal judge relating to allegations of racketeering, bribery, and related crimes. She also serves as forensic adviser to the monitor of one of the largest unions in North America where she assists in managing elections and conducts investigations.
Amy was Managing Director at Lemire LLC, a firm specializing in compliance, risk and investigative matters, before joining StoneTurn. At Lemire LLC, Amy supervised a number of the firm’s public sector engagements, including overseeing their work as the Independent Consultant to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey regarding municipal bond disclosure requirements resulting from a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Consent Decree. She also was retained as Special Counsel on behalf of the Erie County Legislature relating to allegations involving a former Commissioner.
Prior to joining Lemire LLC, Amy founded and managed a boutique litigation law firm based in New York City, where she was Managing Principal for seven years. The firm handled internal corporate investigations, corporate governance matters, and governmental litigation and investigations.
Amy also previously served as Senior Counsel to a multi-billion dollar conglomerate of international insurance entities and investment companies. There, she supervised large-scale, complex litigation and advised the Chief Executive Officer and other senior management on corporate governance and litigation risks. She retained and managed outside counsel and legal vendors on complex civil litigation, including securities and derivative litigation.
Earlier Amy worked as an Associate at Boies, Schiller & Flexner. She represented clients on securities, antitrust, and international governmental litigation and investigations.
Amy began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where she served for four years. As an Assistant DA, Amy prosecuted more than 500 felony and misdemeanor cases, managing all stages of litigation from investigation through indictment, trial and sentencing.
Amy has written on workplace discrimination issues and sexual harassment.
