Jon Critelli Joins StoneTurn as Partner in Construction Advisory Practice

StoneTurn, a leading global advisory firm, today announced Jon Critelli has joined the firm a Partner.

Jon draws on nearly 20 years of experience advising clients on capital projects risk management, capital program and project process reengineering, project management, control implementation and the use of data analytics to optimize capital project delivery. Together with Partners Paul Ryan and Randall Coxworth, Jon will help build new offerings and enhance the firm’s Construction Advisory practice as an end-to-end solution for clients’ capital expenditure and construction risk management needs.

Over the course of his career, Jon has worked with organizations throughout different stages of their construction and capital expenditure projects to develop strategies in risk identification and mitigation, including: project controls for reducing or controlling spend, and preventing delays and cost overrun; contractor and vendor management; compliance issues; post-construction planning and success; and more. He leverages his extensive experience within business performance improvement, project management optimization, capital projects consulting, and internal audit to assist clients across a wide spectrum of industries.

Prior to StoneTurn, Jon served as a Managing Director and National Leader of a global consulting firm’s Capital Projects and Contracts practice. In this capacity, he provided professional services to various clients across industries while leading a team of management consultants from an array of professional and educational backgrounds. He began his career with Lockheed Martin where he was part of their Financial Leadership Development Program and specialized in program finance while supporting various cost and schedule integration and project management initiatives.

David brings more than 30 years of investigative and risk consulting experience, with a proven track-record of managing high-stakes internal and cross-border investigations. He is an expert at navigating and mitigating the business and legal challenges posed by doing business in high-risk jurisdictions and industries, and frequently serves as a trusted advisor to corporations, law firms, audit committees, special committees of boards of directors and their counsel.

Over the course of his career, David has led investigations and risk management engagements across a broad spectrum of topics, including: regulatory investigations, such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and anti-corruption investigations; Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and sanctions compliance investigations and consulting; internal investigations involving fraud, including those involving insider threats and third-party malfeasance; proxy contests and corporate control investigations and advice; reputational due diligence; identification of potentially responsible parties in environmental contamination matters; and corporate governance and integrity advisory. He has also served as an independent third-party auditor in connection with National Security Agreements issued under the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Early in his career, David worked with the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Environmental Enforcement Section where he conducted investigations into some of the United States’ most contaminated hazardous waste sites.

Mike Roos Named Global Leader in Consulting by Consulting Magazine

Each year, Consulting Magazine’s editorial committee works to identify and present awards to “individuals who have displayed outstanding leadership qualities and exert extraordinary influence in their firms, for their clients and over the entire consulting profession.” Mike was selected in Consulting Magazine’s ‘Excellence in Client Service’ category. Specifically, Mike was selected based off his impressive work in establishing StoneTurn’s presence in South Africa as well as his outstanding client work in the region.

A key cog in StoneTurn’s global projects, Mike has become known for the quality of his work and delivery of excellence both for StoneTurn’s global and Africa-based projects – with clients repeatedly issuing high praise for his ability to lead global teams and prepare “to the point” feedback to regulators.

A chartered accountant by training and a seasoned forensic expert molded by time spent at the two of the Big Four accounting firms, StoneTurn tapped Mike in 2018 to open its Johannesburg office, StoneTurn’s first on the African continent. Mike was instrumental in assembling a highly skilled team that supported the firm with international client projects while also leading local engagements in Africa.

Neil Ashton and David Stern Named as Top Expert Witnesses by Who’s Who Legal Arbitration 2022

Neil Ashton and David Stern, two of StoneTurn’s London-based Partners, have again been named as top expert witnesses by Who’s Who Legal (WWL) Arbitration 2022.

Since 1996, Who’s Who Legal has identified the industry’s foremost practitioners based upon comprehensive, independent, global survey work. The 2022 research process reflects consultation with more than 50,000 lawyers, consultants and in-house counsel to gain an accurate picture of the legal market. Hundreds of thousands of votes and recommendations were analyzed from clients and peers to select the recommended practitioners.

Who’s Who Legal respondents commented on David that “He is the ultimate professional with a rare mix of hard work and strong testifying skills” “He is detail orientated, an innovative thinker” and “I have great respect for him.”  David has over 25 years’ experience acting as an expert in forensic accounting investigations and complex business litigation. He has given oral evidence under cross examination on over 30 separate occasions before arbitral tribunals under LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules in Brussels, London, Lusaka, Miami and Paris, as well as before the UK courts.

Neil has over 20 years’ experience working in practice, in industry and in expert witness and litigation support work. He has given oral testimony on multiple occasions before arbitral panels and in Court on a variety of matters, including large-scale multi-$100m proceedings.
