StoneTurn
News

StoneTurn was once again named to the Global Investigations Review (GIR) 100 – Consultancies, the annual guide to the world’s leading investigations practices. This year, StoneTurn was also short-listed for the 2025 Investigations Consultancy of the Year—an award the firm won in 2021.

The GIR 100 is based on extensive research and features the best consultancies from around the world for sophisticated cross-border government-led and internal investigations. The research team considers the significance and complexity of recent work, team composition, jurisdictional importance and market reputation.

GIR noted “StoneTurn’s growth in both scale and geographic reach reflects an increasingly global client base seeking agile, multidisciplinary expertise to manage investigations and regulatory risks in complex jurisdictions.” StoneTurn was also recognized for “its depth in compliance monitoring and remediation” as well as expertise in “business intelligence, asset tracing and recovery, forensic accounting, data science, cybersecurity, and sector-specific advisory work across energy, construction, real estate and financial services.”

In interviews with GIR, clients cited several testimonials about the StoneTurn team’s work:

  • “StoneTurn has been working with me in my role as independent compliance monitor for a Middle Eastern airline, providing extensive data analytics to review all proposed passengers for potential links to Iranian militia groups. Their work is vital to the safe operation of the airline. StoneTurn has been a fantastic partner, proposing creative solutions to difficult problems, delivering on tight deadlines and producing digestible work that highlights key facts. They’ve also been highly cooperative with the full range of service providers involved in the monitorship. Project manager Piers De Wilde has been a superstar, and I’d work with him again on any project. Sarah Keeling has a real talent for presenting complex information clearly, and Alexander Greenall is a rising star who always seems to have an answer.”
  • “StoneTurn has supported investigations into allegations of misrepresentation, fraud and corruption involving a service provider, as well as procurement irregularities within the organisation. These investigations are crucial not only for detecting fraud but also for reinforcing our zero-tolerance stance. StoneTurn is one of six forensic investigators on our panel, and their work stands out for the clarity of their findings, conclusions and recommendations. Phathu Makhadi has been particularly impressive, remaining available to assist even while on maternity leave.”
  • “StoneTurn has supported us on forensic accounting, reputational due diligence, and forensic support for transactional due diligence. These are important and time-sensitive engagements for major global private equity sponsors. They are responsive, conflict-free and nimble enough to quickly scope projects that make sense for timing and budget. Greg Buchanan is our go-to for his responsiveness and willingness to tailor the scope to fit the project.”
  • “We’ve worked with StoneTurn on a range of pre-dispute investigations for multiple clients, including a Fortune 100 global financial services company, a leading academic medical center, a large consumer brand, and a significant healthcare acquisition. The team is remarkably talented and focused: each member is an expert in their specialty, understands client needs, and works within the legal frameworks we operate in. StoneTurn is practical and efficient in supporting our clients’ most sophisticated investigation needs. Highly notable practitioners include Eric Hines in Boston for forensic accounting and damages, Luke Tenery in Chicago for cyber and Sean Tuttle in Boston for forensic data lead.”
