Sharon Brown-Hruska is an Academic Affiliate of StoneTurn and the founder of Hruska Economics LLC, an economics and global markets advisory firm. With more than 30 years of experience in economic policy and regulatory finance, Sharon has held leadership positions in both business and government having served as Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of State.
Sharon has provided expert testimony and consulting in a variety of fields, such as alleged fraud in securities and derivatives markets, regulatory enforcement and compliance matters, global economic security, international finance, energy, risk and regulation, and more. She also advises clients on valuation and modeling.
Sharon has authored articles on emerging crypto markets, securities and derivatives, regulatory finance, and compliance. Before founding Hruska Economics, she was Managing Director at NERA Economic Consulting, where she assisted firms on proposed rulemakings and cost benefit analyses, as well as providing expert testimony and arbitrating for the National Futures Association. In addition, Sharon has been a Professor in the Energy Institute in the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University at Tulane University.
