Pavel Nechala, Ph. D., J.D. - StoneTurn Senior Adviser

Pavel Nechala has over 20 years of experience in advocacy and providing legal services to clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

For many years, Pavel has worked with the Slovak branch of the international anti-corruption organization Transparency International. During this time, he has provided expert legal advice in the anti-corruption field. He has been instrumental in major legal reforms, such as adopting the Whistleblower Protection Act, preventing conflicts of interest, and strengthening the Freedom of Information Act.

He has also used this experience to conduct internal investigations for private- and public-sector clients, including allegations of employee wrongdoing.

As an attorney, he has represented whistleblowers in litigation and administrative proceedings in the publicly monitored cases of Zuzana Hlávkova (corruption and wasteful conduct at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic during the preparation of the Slovak EU Presidency) or Jozef Žatko (theft of fuel by employees of the Police of the Slovak Republic).

Pavel serves as an external adviser to the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, providing expert legal consultation in matters requiring independent analysis and specialized professional judgment. In addition, he is a member of the Supervisory Commission of the Slovak Bar Association, contributing to the oversight of professional ethics, disciplinary compliance, and the overall integrity of the legal profession in Slovakia. He also serves as a member of the CCBE Working Group on Deontology, where he contributes to the development and refinement of ethical standards and professional conduct rules within the European legal community

In addition to corruption prevention, Pavel has expertise in public procurement, commercial law (especially contracts), compliance, IT, and technology. He regularly publishes in specialized periodicals, mass media, and speaks at professional conferences.
