StoneTurn Bolsters Its Compliance and Investigations Practices with Addition of Former New York ADA and Assistant Deputy Inspector General
Global advisory firm StoneTurn today announced that former Assistant Deputy Inspector General of the New York State Office of Inspector General and former Assistant District Attorney of the New York County’s District Attorney’s Office, Paul Ryan has joined as a Partner in New York. With more than 20 years of experience in compliance, forensic audits and complex investigations, Paul will advise on risk mitigation strategies, compliance programs and monitorships across the public and private sectors, with a focus on construction and real estate.
“Following a historic collapse in construction activity worldwide as a result of the pandemic, the construction industry is set to rebound in 2021, with forecasted activity higher than 2019 levels,” said Christopher Martinez, StoneTurn’s co-founder and managing partner. “Paul’s significant experience overseeing construction companies, labor unions and trade vendors will be an asset to those seeking to protect their projects and organizations from allegations of fraud, waste or misuse.”
While with the New York State Office of Inspector General, Paul directed audits and reviews of organizations, contractors and vendors which received funding from the state, and jointly investigated criminal activity with federal and state prosecutors. During his tenure as an Assistant New York District Attorney, he led investigations involving construction companies, labor unions in construction trade and organized crime figures. Paul also investigated and prosecuted crimes involving money laundering, tax offenses, conspiracy and bribery.
Prior to joining StoneTurn, Paul served as a Senior Managing Director and the Head of Construction and Real Estate Services at an investigative, compliance and cyber defense services firm. He also led large, multifaceted monitorships of multi-million and multi-billion dollar projects for government entities, Fortune 50 companies and other well-known international organizations in the construction and real estate sectors.
Paul holds a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Queens College. He is admitted to the New York State Bar.
