Sid Verma, a Managing Director with StoneTurn, has nearly 15 years of experience in investigations, anti-corruption, compliance and monitoring, auditing, and litigation and disputes support. Most recently, Sid worked as part of the Forensic Adviser team supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)-Appointed Independent Compliance Monitor and Auditor of Volkswagen AG – one of the largest and most high-profile corporate compliance monitorships in history.

As part of the VW monitorship team, Sid led an assessment of VW’s Internal Audit-Risk Mitigation function.  Sid and his team evaluated the annual risk assessment process, governing policies and procedures, audit planning, audit execution procedures, testing of design and operating effectiveness of risk mitigating controls, post-audit remediation, reporting structures, independence, training, and skills assessment of the Internal Audit function. He also led assessments of VW’s proactive anti-corruption audits across the world.  Finally, Sid was also responsible for the development of testing guidance and protocols related to the monitor’s assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of the company’s ethics and compliance program.

Sid has assisted leading law firms and corporations globally with FCPA anti-corruption compliance reviews, forensic accounting investigations, fraud risk management, pre-acquisition due diligence reviews, risk mitigation audits and internal controls assessments. He has worked with clients across a broad range of industries, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, financial services, e-commerce, consumer products, energy and industrial manufacturing. He has conducted and managed engagements across the world, including in North and South America, Europe, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Sid has reported findings and recommendations to legal counsel, boards of directors, the DOJ, the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), the U.S. Department of Treasury (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency – OCC) and various international regulators.

Prior to joining StoneTurn, Sid was with KPMG, where he served as an Associate Director in the Forensic practice in India. Sid assisted several global companies with forensic investigations, anti-corruption compliance and fraud risk management engagements in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Previously, he worked in the Risk Advisory practices of Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Midwest region. In these roles, Sid focused on FCPA compliance and investigation projects, as well as internal controls risk assessments and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance engagements.

Sid is a Certified Public Accountant (licensed in Michigan), Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.
