Doug Coventry, a Senior Adviser with StoneTurn, has nearly 40 years of automotive industry expertise. Recently, he has focused on consulting in automotive engineering and laboratory quality, leveraging his management, powertrain engineering, lab quality, vehicle emissions testing and international programs training and experience.
Doug has over 35 years of automotive product engineering experience for an original equipment manufacturer, including entire laboratory and facility / business management. He has over 15 years of experience in powertrain (gasoline and diesel) engineering / vehicle integration and has over 25 years of experience in Engineer and Technician supervision, program / project management, new product development, and production readiness.
Doug spent the majority of his career at General Motors, where his most recent experience was with powertrain / vehicle emission testing, and laboratory / facility management. Specifically, he has a deep understanding of the vehicle emission measurement process, having managed a vehicle emission testing lab and ensured regulatory compliance and quality. He is familiar with the U.S. vehicle emission certification and the European Type Approval processes. He has worked with the Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”), California Air Resources Board (“ARB”), and other OEMs, including participating in several EPA/CARB/industry vehicle emission testing committees.
Additionally, Doug spent significant time working with international programs when at General Motors, and worked with teams from Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Italy, Brazil, Australia and Japan.
Doug is an American Society of Quality (“ASQ”) Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence, and as Lab Manager and Quality Manager, his Laboratories achieved and maintained ISO 17025 quality accreditation. He is a Black Belt in Six Sigma.
