Global Advisory Firm Doubles Its Senior Investigations Team in the U.K. with Addition of ex-Big Four Partners
StoneTurn, a global advisory firm, today announced the expansion of its London-based Investigations senior team with the additions of Hitesh Patel, FCA, CFE, and David Higginson, FCA, as Partners. Hitesh, formerly with KPMG, brings nearly 30 years of experience leading inquiries into fraud, bribery and corruption, money laundering and other white-collar crimes. David, formerly with EY, brings more than 20 years of experience in forensic investigations and regulatory compliance engagements.
At StoneTurn, both will specialize in investigations, supporting clients’ litigation decision-making and risk assessment and mitigation strategies. They join the firm’s London-based team of Investigations and Business Intelligence experts, Annabel Kerley and Sarah Keeling.
“Amidst increased cross-border enforcement across the globe, corporates, investors and their counsel are increasingly turning to our professionals to help them investigate and remediate fraud, bribery and corruption and other misconduct,” said Annabel Kerley, Partner. “To be successful, organizations will continue to need the type of skilled sectoral expertise and data-driven insights that Hitesh and David bring to our already strong team. It is also a delight to have a team of partners that have previously worked together.”
Prior to joining StoneTurn, Hitesh was a Partner in the Forensics practice at KPMG for more than 13 years. There, he assisted a broad spectrum of clients with investigations and compliance matters and also led sector teams focused on pharmaceutical & life sciences, consumer & industrial markets and financial services. Over the course of his career, Hitesh has led numerous assignments involving civil, criminal or regulatory action with a particular focus on complex multijurisdictional issues relating to regulatory non-compliance, as well as white-collar and organized crime. Much of his work has involved the application of advanced forensic technology and data analytic capabilities to protect his clients’ commercial interests.
David joins StoneTurn from EY, where he was a partner for six years with the Forensic Investigation Services team in London. There, he led regulatory investigations and financial crime compliance engagements for global and European corporates and financial services firms. Prior to EY, David spent over 18 years with KPMG, first in the Audit practice and, later, in Forensics. David also spent 15 months on secondment to a law enforcement agency as an investigative accountant assisting with money laundering and confiscation investigations. Following his secondment, David helped to build KPMG’s Public Sector Economic Crime team. He has conducted countless internal investigations at U.K.-based and global corporations and prepared reports for submission to law enforcement and regulatory bodies.
“Hitesh and David are highly respected investigations and compliance experts and represent a caliber of adviser that is highly sought-after and valued across the globe,” explained Christopher Martinez, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of StoneTurn. “We are experiencing a growing demand for senior-level investigation experts as pandemic-driven fraud, combined with a downturn in many major economies, creates a ‘perfect storm’ for misconduct to thrive worldwide. We welcome Hitesh and David to our growing global team and look forward to their valuable contributions.”
