Paul Marcus, a Senior Adviser to StoneTurn, brings more than 30 years of experience in advising clients on commercial disputes and litigation, solvency analysis, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, security and business valuation, and investment decision making. He also has significant expertise in performing independent fundamental research and due diligence, strategic planning and financial analysis, raising and providing capital, and originating, structuring and negotiating complex financial transactions.
Paul has been involved in dispute matters as both a testifying and consulting expert, advising clients on a wide variety of topics, including valuation, securities pricing and reaction to new or previously undisclosed information, financing strategy, solvency, lending and underwriting, financial analysis, large-scale investigations, fairness opinions, capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and economic damages, analysis of complex financial structures, and commercial and investment banking practices, among others. Paul has testified in federal trials and Delaware Chancery Court, and has been deposed for numerous other matters.
As a former investment banker, commercial banker, investment officer for a mezzanine fund, and director of finance for a startup business, Paul completed more than 20 buy- and sell-side merger and acquisition assignments, provided over $1 billion of capital to businesses, advised numerous companies on financing strategy and capital raising in the public and private markets, valued businesses across many industries and provided a broad range of corporate finance advisory services.
Paul has experience in an array of industries, including technology (hardware and software), biotechnology, manufacturing, distribution, financial services, professional services, utilities, telecommunications and textiles.
Previously, Paul was a Managing Director in the Dispute and Legal Management Consulting Group of Duff & Phelps, a Managing Director in the Financial and Economic Consulting Practice of Huron Consulting Group, a Principal in the Dispute and Investigative Advisory Practice of Tofias PC, and a Senior Expert at the Michel / Shaked Group. He also served as a Managing Director and co-founder of Corporate Finance Advisors, Inc. and a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Group at Shawmut Bank, where he completed numerous engagements in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private placements, financial advisory services and valuations. Earlier, Paul was the Director of Finance of a start-up business, an Investment Officer with Marlborough Capital Advisors (a mezzanine fund), a Vice President in the Project Finance Group at Shawmut Bank and an Assistant Vice President in the Utilities / Telecommunications Group at Bank of America.
