StoneTurn Expands Washington, DC Presence with Added Forensic Accounting Expertise

WASHINGTON, DC (SEPTEMBER 12, 2016) – In response to increased client demand from mounting regulatory pressures, StoneTurn Group (“StoneTurn”), a forensic accounting and expert services firm, today announced it has expanded its Washington, DC presence. Former FBI Supervisory Forensic Accountant James Wood joins as a managing director and Essi Egbeto, who most recently served as an assurance manager at a national public accounting firm, joins as a manager. They will focus on complex forensic accounting issues, fraud investigations, fraud prevention and compliance assessments.

In his previous role at the FBI, James led the agency’s Forensic Accountant Support Team, which conducts financial investigations in high-priority and high-profile cases throughout the country. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in prosecution leading to conviction in over 25 criminal fraud cases and has testified in court. He has conducted forensic accounting examinations involving numerous types of frauds and disputes, including Ponzi schemes, securities fraud, embezzlement, FCPA violations, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, mortgage fraud, advance fee schemes, public corruption, check kiting and cybercrimes.

Earlier, James worked in the forensics practice at a Big Four accounting firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. A seasoned lecturer and instructor, James currently is a part-time instructor of accounting and auditing at The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Most recently an assurance manager with a national public accounting firm, Essi is experienced in auditing, government contracting and consulting. She has extensive audit experience serving clients across various industries, including financial services, construction, hospitality, commercial real estate and public sector, among others. Earlier, she worked for a government contractor, where she was a consultant to the U.S. Housing and Urban Development in loan recertification matters for single family lenders.

Essi began her career at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). She is a Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of State Bar of Maryland.
